Nathan Haines plays his first ever concert in the Far North with his 6 piece band at the beautiful and historic Butler Point. Featuring brother Joel Haines on guitar and a band of Nathan's closest friends and collaborators, this concert promises to be a very special afternoon of top quality jazz, soul and funk sounds from one of New Zealand's most respected and multi award winning musicians. As well as artisan food stalls, Keri-keri based Kainui Wines will be offering an amazing selection of locally grown wines and award winning craft beers, all in the wonderful garden-like atmosphere of Butler Point, a short 10 minute drive from the historic village of Mangonui. Bring a picnic blanket - kids under 12 are free.
Nathan Haines and band return to the Uxbridge Theatre with special guest vocalist Tama Waipara on June 16. Joining Nathan is his brother Joel on guitar, with Mickey Ututaonga on drums, Alan Brown Hammond Organ and piano, and Karika Turua on bass. This is Nathan's first show since several operations and radiation therapy earlier this year to remove a cancerous growth in his throat. This is sure to be a very special concert.
MONSTERS of the DEEP
Nathan Haines and Jonathan Crayford are perhaps two of our most travelled International musicians. The pair have collaborated with countless producers, and artists around the world for the last two decades, as well as both producing career defining albums that have been released internationally.
By some strange twist of fate and divine providence, both now reside in our fair South Pacific Isle.
Friends for over a quarter of a decade, the pair first played together in New York City in the early 90’s.
“Monsters of the Deep” is their new collaborative effort which sees them experimenting with their own signature sounds and ideas alongside veteran drummer Mickey Ututaonga and bassist Marika Hodgson.
“It’s Deep” - The Village Voice
